The Bio Technology industry with Monsanto in the lead is spending millions of dollars to convince Congress and the America people that GMO's are good for us, good for the economy, and good for the planet. Yet most Americans, most industrialized countries oppose inclusion of GMO's in our food, and want food containing GMO's to be labeled as such. The industry insists there is no need for such labeling contending that GMO foods are safe to eat, and safe for the environment. Two quick points...if GMO's are so safe for us to eat, then why not label such GMO Foods? Secondly, it would seem our guaranteed freedom of choice should dictate labeling so that we as consumers can make our own decisions, our own choices about the food we eat. 1. Monsanto claims that humans cannot tell the difference between foods containing genetically modified organisms and NATURAL FOOD. Perhaps from a taste perspective this might be correct, but a study published in the journal Nature Biotechnology would suggest our bodies on a cellular or sub-cellular level can tell the difference.
